Firstly I want to add I know hair loss is mainly due to genetics, which is why I am stumped here. I am a 26 year old, healthy male with good genes, no obesity, history of disease, nothing like that. My family on both sides all have great hair, and not one male is bald or even partially bald, everyone has a good head of hair. That being said, why is my hair thinning? It’s very fine, and I cannot style it without it looking like im going bald on top. It also looks like my hairline is receding significantly, getting thinner in the corners of my hairline(in a Judd Law type pattern). I have been under constant stress for a long time, exceeding ten years, i’ve read that stress, diet, and lifestyle can cause hair loss, but I’ve also heard that’s just a myth…
I see a lot of celebrities on TV, athletes, just very active and seemingly under minimal stress, and most of these men have thick kennedy hair! I know there are ways to stop hair loss, like rogaine, propecia, and hair transplants, which all of these professional athletes and movie stars can afford to get, but what about the others that aren’t rich? Why aren’t they balding at all? I have friends who have bald parents, and they all have great hair, I’m sure they will go bald in the future, but they aren’t showing any signs of it yet. Some of my friends are already bald, or are noticeablely thin due to genetics, and I understand there isn’t much you can do about that, some people just go bald.
Why am I going bald when it’s not in my genes? I’m really self aware of it, and I obsess over it. I cannot find any hard, accurate answers on this subject. PLEASE HELP!

nows adays when i comb my hair (i recently started combing becos my friends said i had dandruff on my head) i begin to see very small dandruff on the comb and on the hair. i am a thirteen year old and my hair is around 6cm long to 8cm. and one more thing , my hair was also found on the comb and whenever i comb, i see hair stucked on it and small dandruff. so what i wanna ask is,
1. can head and shoulders cure the small dandruff(its not like the big ones its small)
2.does msg from cup noodles cause hair loss and hair dropping?(recently i ate alot of cup noodles)
3.average, how many strains of hair does a 13 year old boy hair drop?
4.will shorter hair solve the problem?
5.will fingernails with black dirty stain when scratch the hair cause dandruff(i am in scouts so my hand is always stained with mud)
6.do i need to use man’s shampoo or the head and shoulders one?(my mom said head and shoulders was good so i used it)

I’m 40, have 3 kids (9, 6, 3) and have noticed over the last 3-5 years my hair falling out and beginning to thin on top. This is extremely distressing to me and I’m worried to death about it. My thyroid is in check and I have no health problems that cause hair loss, so I don’t know how to fix this problem. My ob said there’s really nothing anyone, male or female, can do about thinning hair. It’s just age, hormone, stress related. He said even Rogaine doesn’t work or else we wouldn’t still see bald men, much less women! Does anyone who has had this problem know any treatments that truly made a difference before I go spending tons of cash on a million products promising thicker hair. Mind you, I’m not bald or balding – I’ve just noticed a definite thinning on the crown of my head and have to carefully style my hair so that my scalp doesn’t show.

I have been wondering something for about hair loss in me for awhile. It seems like any time i see a man who is losing his hair, he always seem to be a young guy with a wife and kids. Also, men who don’t lose that much hair or any, always seem to be single into at least middle age. Of course there are exceptions but could having a family cause hair loss or make it worse, maybe through stress?
I found all the other Q & A’s not satisfactory.
Pantene will cause hair loss depending on your hair type. I’m of Asian descent and I have fine to oily hair. Recently (summer time), I been experiencing DRAMATIC hair loss (20+ strands of hair after every time I touch my hair.) I went to the doctors, she did blood tests which included thyroid… ADCE?? (Which is a chemical in men’s body causing male pattern baldness.. and etc.. I’m fine but on my way out my dr mentioned it to another dr (who happens to be Indian) and she said her daughter experienced bad hair loss using Pantene. So I’ve switched to a basic shampoo and eliminated the excess protein caused by Pantene. My hair hasn’t fallen like it was. Thank goodness.
In case, here are some things you may do to help your hair if it’s thinning:
1. Nioxin Shampoo/ Conditioner–Scalp Therapy: use it to wash and condition. u can only find this at nice drug stores… like ones on 5th ave in NYC.
2. Jalco- K pack 1ce mon. it reconstructs
